Get Off Your Phone!
When I got my first phone, I was excited. Everyone else had already gotten their phones, and I was about to join the rest of the technologically-connected world. Ironically, it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. Now, my relationship with my friends and family haven't been negatively affected by any of the social media stresses. Why? Well when you rarely have any to begin with, it is a lot easier to go about your daily business without constantly being notified about someone else's daily business.
How you are with social media can mean even more when it comes to academics, such as school. Despite all the problems that students encounter with devices, I think they should be allowed within schools and classrooms. Even though there are a numerous amount of people that are plagued with social media problems that hinder their performance within academic settings, I can guarantee that there are just as many people that use their devices to gain an academic advantage over the rest. I can say this because not all of us use social media the same way. Some people constantly check their phones or tablets for the latest gossip on anyone in school. By the same token, there are those that rarely even check or notice they get updates, much less care about them anyways. I for one am one of the latter.
As much as the use of social media can hinder students from doing their utmost best, some schools are already finding was to put it into their advantage. Mary Ward is one of them. Twitter is just one of the many forms of social media used make the school a more connected place for not just students, but for staff and parents as well. In any case, the use of social media and devices in school isn't so bad after all.

Celebrities Behaving Badly
There are a whole lot of celebrities that have been popping up on TV shows and tabloids for some pretty ridiculous things. Kanye West and his intense Twitter rants, Justin Bieber with his DUI charges, and so much more. But while celebrities do these outlandish types of things almost all the time, what are we doing? Sure we're reporting about it on talk shows and late night entertainment shows, but are we really doing anything? Ask any fan of any of these celebrities about the things these famous people have done, and they would most likely find a way to justify why they do it.
In my opinion, both the people and celebrities are to blame for it. On one hand, celebrities do what they do, because they feel that they can. With all the fame and fortune that comes with the job, the law and the rules don't seem so important anymore do they? Its much easier to use money to get your way. On the other had, people see these celebrities as idols. The problem? They refuse to associate these problems with their celebrities, because that would make them... like us. People assume that when you're a celebrity you're set for life. What else could you possibly want? When people start to realize that they are just like us, their problems don't seem so interesting anymore.
When you take the time to think about it, there really is no difference between them and us. So why shouldn't consequences for breaking the law be any different? They're only human, so there should be no exception or special law right? Unfortunately, Not everyone agrees on this. just as unfortunately though, it won't take very long before those people begin to realize what the rest of us already have.

Safe Schools?
Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. Over 3.2 million students become the victims of bullying every single year. If it wasn't bad enough, approximately 160,000 teenagers skip school everyday as a result of constantly being bullied. This abuse came to fruition at 8:30 am on Tuesday, February 23rd when a fourteen-year old female student at Dunbarton High School possessing two knives, had attacked six students and three faculty members.
According to studies, only 1 in 4 teachers see nothing wrong with bullying and will only intervene 4% of the time. Are we all supposed to find this acceptable in any way? I'd rather think not. So what does this all mean? Right now, all it simply means is that we still have a long way to go as a society before we can permanently prevent bullying from ever happening again. I can say this 'because, no matter what bullying does to peoples' lives, communities are always there to help. I can say that we still have a long way to go, because it's a work in progress. This incident is one that can be learned from by all other schools. Knowing that bullying can be caused by isolation, schools can do the opposite. Holding several events for the school community can give all students and faculty the chance to get together. Aside from this, several organizations are can be reachable for bullying cases, such as Kids' help Phone.

Of Course the Internet is Telling me the Truth!
Did you know, that 65% of people who are currently online believe anything they see or read on the internet? Did you also know, that the statistic I just mentioned was a complete fake? For all that it stands for, the Internet can give everyone some serious trust issues when it comes to authenticity. Though it gives people a voice that can be heard globally, this privilege creates a sort of truth out of false information. Do you believe everything you read or see online? I don't, and maybe people should think twice before deciding if the Moon can clone itself 37 times.
Some people believe in the most outrageous things, cats are liquids, Wi-Fi causes cancer, I mean I'm pretty sure that a little common sense would go a long way. One thing we can take away from all this is that the Internet is a powerful medium for information — information that people will believe with or without any authoritative punch behind it. Which is why people should be skeptical whenever they read something on the internet; Always question what you read. When you take the time to think about it in the long run, if it's too good to to be true, it probably is.

Would you pay???
Ads. They are the absolute worst whenever you want to watch anything on YouTube. Some are found in the beginning, the end, and some few are even found in the middle! No matter what, it's just one more annoyance to add to an already tiring and stressful day. Yet even though we complain, and whine, there's not much we can do about them is there? Well that fact has changed too.
Just recently, YouTube has released a special and unique subscription that lets you watch videos without any ads! That's great! Awesome! Fantastic! Well, until you hear the price. That is, placed at an earnest amount of $9.99. Really? That much for just one month? As much as I'd like to justify there decision with that price, I just simply can't. Nuisances such as those pesky ads just aren't worth that much effort to get rid off. These ads only take up second of your time, maybe a minute at most.
For the truly impatient people who really cannot, absolutely, tolerate something annoying for more than ten seconds then by all means, buy it if you wish. But for the rest of us who would rather save that extra ten dollars for a rainy day, including me, we wouldn't mind spending a minute of our time watching an advertisement because, we've got time. Personally speaking, I would rather not buy something so expensive, whose sole purpose is to block a video that takes only a minute long to finish for a hefty price of $9.99. When you put it like that, it sounds just sounds absurd to have that in the first place. So an ad-free monthly subscription for ten bucks? Nice try YouTube, but the majority of us would rather leave the videos as it is right now.

TV is Dying! ... or is it?
With so many of today's citizens living in the fast lane, the time to do anything that isn't about earning income, jobs, and stress just takes a back seat on the list of things to do. I for one see this first-hand almost everywhere I go. Nowadays, anyone who is everyone becomes so preoccupied with different things that they just become too busy to do anything but work. Even watching TV is too "boring"now, expecting the same mediocre things to appear on the screen every time.
The only way to survive an ever-changing environment an society is to keep adapting, especially true in an age where technology is the way forward. If TV and cable companies are able to achieve this, they may not only solve the ordeal, they might even re-ignite the spark in everyone that makes watching TV that much better again. If I were to see some cool invention that made TV become that much more enjoyable? Yeah, I'd totally watch even more of it, and I know that there are millions of other people who could say the same thing whole-heartedly.
Now I know that there are still a significant amount of people that continue to watch TV, myself included, while balancing it with other forms of media, it's just not enough anymore. As for what happens to the big-time TV corporations and cable companies? Even if the future is looking pretty bleak for them, that does't necessarily mean meeting their end at all. One might even say it's just another one of TV's big obstacles that has to eventually be overcome. I'm certain that in the future, cable TV can find a way to bounce back from this problem. Some of the things that I would look at in order to help solve this problem includes a lot of innovation.
